What I did this month
September was a dull month so lets keep this short. I also have to catch up on these posts!
Last month I decided to switch my morning digital art studies over to pixel art. Maintaining that habit was challenging to say the very least. 2 hours a day of deliberate practice felt a bit too overwhelming, so Ill adjust it next month.
Even with an amazing morning routine, my daily schedule was missing something important. Something that would keep me healthy and happy in the long run. I realized what I was missing was dedicated exercise time! I went on 1hour runs every weekday this month (which probably explains why I felt so tired & dull). Although these two routines are VERY time consuming and mentally draining, Ill do EVERYTHING and ANYTHING to assimilate it into my daily routine.
Being a freelancer has its own hidden costs.
I've been contacted more frequently for contract work the past few months. As common curtesy, I tend to do example animations to see if it'd be worth it for both parties. It's great value for the person hiring but it can get expensive for me when the contract don't fall through. I'll be weary of that moving forward & ensure I say NO if I'm not willing to say HELL YES.
Nothing too exciting happened this month but I'm glad that Ive been running and pixeling consistently. I plan to translate my pixel studies into tutorials so keep an eye out for that!
Moving onto next month, I plan to take on more commission work (I have a new contract I'm HELLA stoked about) and continue my morning routines. Expect to see a ton of sketch animations on my twitter or find them in my #animation_dump hashtag.
That about does it for this month's report. Thank you for reading & catch you on the next one!
